The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus (early 2009) This is a Terry Gilliam film starring Christopher Plummer, Tom Waits, Charles McKeown, Heath Ledger, Verne Troyer. The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is a fantastical morality tale, set in the present day. It tells the story of Dr Parnassus (Plummer) and his extraordinary 'Imaginarium', a travelling show where members of the audience get an irresistible opportunity to choose between light and joy or darkness and gloom. Blessed with the extraordinary gift of guiding the imaginations of others, Dr Parnassus is cursed with a dark secret. Long ago he made a bet with the devil, Mr Nick (Waits), in which he won immortality. The script is written by Gilliam with Charles McKeown, who both wrote the script to Brazil and The Adventures of Baron Munchausen.

The Lake House - (Warner Bros. June 15, 2006 release) A sci-fi romantic drama with Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock, Christopher Plummer (as Reeves' architect father), Shohreh Aghdashloo, John Corbett and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.


The New World (New Line release dates: Dec. 25, 2005 LA, NYC / Wide USA the weekend of Jan. 13, 2006) "director Terrence Malick's take on the Pocahontas tale for New Line Cinema." Film starring Colin Farrell, Christian Bale, Christopher Plummer, Q'Orianka Kilcher "focuses on the relationship between explorer John Smith (Farrell) and young Indian princess Pocahontas. Plummer will play Capt. Christopher Newport, an English officer among the initial settlers in the New World who serves as the first president of the Jamestown Colony." Syriana - (Warner Bros. Nov. 23, 2005 release) A political thriller staring George Clooney directed by Stephen Gaghan ("Traffic"), suggested by the book "See No Evil" by Robert Baer. Cast includes George Clooney, Matt Damon, Jeffrey Wright, Chris Cooper, William Hurt, Amanda Peet, Christopher Plummer, Alexander Siddig.


Four Minutes - (Premiered on ESPN2 Oct. 6, 2005; DVD release December 2005) Christopher Plummer plays track coach Archie Mason in a TV movie about Roger Bannister who broke the 4 minute mile in 1954.


The Sound of Music - 40th Anniversary DVD release

Must Love Dogs (Warner Bros. July 29, 2005 release; DVD release December 2005) With Diane Lane, Kyra Sedgwick, John Cusack, Christopher Plummer, Stockard Channing and Dermot Mulroney. Based on Claire Cook's 2002 novel, the film is about "a divorcee, played by Lane, who gets enrolled in a series of online dating programs by her close-knit Irish-American family."

Our Fathers - (Showtime TV movie; premiered May 21, 2005; DVD release December 2005) - Christopher Plummer, Brian Dennehy, Ted Danson, Daniel Baldwin star in this TV movie about the Catholic Church's sex abuse scandal. Plummer is Cardinal Law, who resigned as Archbishop of Boston in 2002 over mishandling and cover-ups of a large number of abuse cases. "Our Fathers" is based on a book by Newsweek's David France ("Our Fathers: The Secret Life of the Catholic Church in an Age of Scandal"). Plummer and Dennehy were nominated for 2005 Emmy Awards as supporting actors. Heidi - Christopher Plummer provides the voice of the "cantankerous Grandfather" in an animated feature film version of the classic children's book "Heidi." The film was released on Region 2 DVD in the UK in September 2005. It is being distributed internationally for TV.

Alexander - (Warner Bros. Nov. 24, 2004 release) Christopher Plummer is Aristotle in Alexander, Oliver Stone's epic about Alexander the Great starring Colin Farrell. In 2005, the movie was released on DVD in two different versions. This site recommends the theatrical release version ("Special Edition") DVD of Alexander, instead of the Director's Cut DVD, although there is a very short additional scene of Christopher Plummer in the Directors cut. His main scene, teaching the young students, is edited differently in the two versions.

National Treasure (Touchstone/Bruckheimer Nov. 19, 2004 release) Cast: Nicolas Cage, Justin Bartha, Diane Kruger, Sean Bean, Harvey Keitel, Christopher Plummer ("John Adams Gates"), Jon Voight. Action/comedy about an adventurous archaelogist (Cage) who comes from a long line of treasure hunters that have all been determined to find a fabled war chest treasure that may have been hidden by America's Founding Fathers as funds for the Revolutionary War.


Gone With the Wind 4-Disc Collector's Edition - Christopher Plummer narrates and introduces many of the bonus features on the new Warner Home Video release of the 1939 movie. The 4 disc set includes a new digital restoration of the movie and 5 hours of old and new documentaries. He narrated the 1989 documentary "The Making of a Legend: Gone With the Wind." The Extra Man (???) - This movie has been in development by Killer Films as an adaptation of Jonathan Ames' 1998 comic novel to be directed by Isaac Mizrahi. Several articles (including Variety May 14, 2004) mentioned that Christopher Plummer and Jason Briggs would star in the movie. As of the end of 2004 the movie has not gone into production.


Gospel of John The DVD is available through the official site and Amazon and Netflix and has been released in video stores. The movie received 2 Genie nominations: art direction and costume design. Premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2003 as a Special Presentation feature. Blizzard A Christmas story which mixes live action and CGI animation, starring Zoe Warner, Christopher Plummer (Santa Claus), Brenda Blethyn, Kevin Pollak and Whoopi Goldberg as the voice of Blizzard. The movie marks the film directorial debut of actor LeVar Burton, who directed many Star Trek episodes for television. The movie has won some awards: 2004 Chicago International Children's Film Festival: Best of the Fest; 2004 Directors Guild of Canada Award: Outstanding Team Achievement in a Family Feature Film; 2003 Heartland Film Festival Award of Excellence; Young Artist Awards: Best International Feature Film nomination; 3 Genie nominations: Christopher Plummer (supporting actor), costume design, song. The movie opened in limited release in Canada December 12, 2003; It has aired on ABC Family Network and was was released on DVD.

Agent of Influence - TV movie premiered April 13, 2003 on CTV in Canada; The movie received Gemini nominations for writing and directing and won some awards at international television festivals. "Inspired by a true story," Agent of influence is an espionage story about events surrounding the death of Canada's Ambassador to Moscow John Watkins (Christopher Plummer), at the height of the Cold War in 1964. The movie "raises disturbing questions about the conduct of Washington, and particularly the CIA, during this period, also the complicity of senior RCMP security personnel." The movie has aired in many countries. As of 2004 there is a PAL/Region 2 DVD available through some movie sites in Spain and Greece.

Ararat (Miramax) This film-within-a-film follows the production of a historical epic about the Armenian genocide (1915-1923); Directed by Atom Egoyan ("The Sweet Hereafter", "Felicia's Journey"). Ararat won 5 Genie Awards including Best Picture and received 9 nominations (Best actor nom for Plummer.) Lucky Break - Released in UK 2001 / USA 2002; Screened at Sundance Film Fest. Christopher Plummer appears in the movie as a prison governor so thrilled prisoners are staging his musical about Admiral Nelson that he's oblivious to their escape attempt. There are brief musical segments of "Nelson the Musical" with song lyrics by Stephen Fry.

Hamlet Solo Raoul Bhaneja's documentary first aired on Bravo Canada Sept. 13,2007. "This Bravo! Network documentary chronicles the six-year journey of dynamic actor Raoul Bhaneja to mount an exciting one-man version of Shakespeare's Hamlet." Bhaneja interviews a number of Canadian actors, including Christopher Plummer, who have played the role of Hamlet.

Stratford Gold was a series of 13 episodes aired on CBC in 2002 (June 4 - Sept. 3) for the 50th anniversary of the Stratford Festival covering the history of the theater with interviews and film of the actors. Plummer appeared in most of the episodes. Most of the programs ran 30 minutes.
